General information about agriculture in Sørum.
Agricultural estates cover a total of 36 % of the area in our municipality. The farmers grow grain, grass and potatoes. Livestock breeding is also common, mainly cattle, pigs and chickens.
The ridges are mostly covered by forest, giving natural shelter for elk, deer, lynx, rabbit and smaller animals. Sørum has a rich stock of birds, especially around our rivers. Norway's largest river, Glomma, flows through Sørum, and offers good fishing possibilities. In our lakes and ponds there is a good population of trout.
